Learn what opera is really all about. Demystifying Opera takes a thought-provoking look at the world of opera, including a brief history of the art form through the use of visual and audio excerpts. We'll discuss various genres, voice types and how they relate to character, the influence of opera on modern music, and how opera has made its way into popular culture. The discussion also features lively commentary and discussion about one of Sacramento Opera's upcoming productions. Led by Community Engagement Coordinator, Joey Castaneda, Demystifying Opera will peel away opera's aura of elitism and exclusivity, and explain how a night at the opera can be as easy to enjoy as an episode of CSI or Top Chef. Be sure to enter our prize drawing for two free tickets.
